SANDFORD LANE, WAREHAM

Case Study

As part of a wider portfolio review of Office and Depot locations Sandford Lane, Wareham was reviewed as a donor site for an alternate location within the existing land holdings for Fleet and Logistics teams. Sandford Lane is located adjacent to an established commercial and light industrial centre.

Historically the site had a series of reed beds passing final effluent into the neighbouring ditch system, along with two artesian water monitoring boreholes. It is designated Green Belt land, extending to approx. 1ha.

Nest Homes agreed with Wessex Water Services Ltd (the client) that the land should be promoted within the Local Plan Review for Purbeck Council (now Dorset Council) for B Class employment land.

To support this land promotion and allay any doubt with regards to suitability of the land due to its historic use, we agreed with the Client that this would include comprehensive topographical, geotechnical, contamination and flood risk surveys. The public consultation is still active, and we plan to engage in forthcoming consultation stages in 2021.
